    TRAVEL TIPS
    • Money change: Do not change money in the train and bus stations or at the airport if it is possible. Even though it says “commission free” you may lose almost 20% with bad rates. Use one of the several ATMs available throughout the city.
    • Paying in euro: Do not pay anything in Euro without knowing the current rate.
    • Taxis: Don't take a taxi at the airport from those standing at the door. Rather call a taxi from the main hall, or take the Airport Minibus service of the Airport. Before getting into a taxi, ask the driver about the expected price of your journey and also about the currency rate he uses that day.
If you are in a taxi, check if the driver has a valid licence, which should be put somewhere where it's clear to be seen. Check the price table and try to check the taximeter. If you have the smallest doubt,  ask the driver to stop and leave.
    • Public transport: Always buy a ticket and validate it since there are more and more ticket inspectors on the vehicles, in the various stops, as well as the entrances and exits of the subways. When travelling by public transport, the most economical way is to buy one of the several travel cards.
    • Restaurants: Instead of the restaurants near the main tourist (which are usually more expensive) try to find a restaurant where local people eat. The quality, the service and also the prices will be better. Before ordering in a restaurant, make sure you know what is and what is not included in the price printed on the menu.
